  • For VTube-STEP Mode: Supravision filenames are also part numbers.  However, Supravision files also contain internal part numbers. Usually the two are the same. However, because Supravision files may contain truncated or incorrect internal part numbers, we've added a feature to VTube that allows you to choose to use either the filename as the part number or the embedded part number during data import.

  • the TUBE MOVE procedure worked for MultiScan - but not properly for UniScan mode.​ This build of VTube-LASER fixes the problem and updates the user interface.

1 - FIXED DOCS FILE IMPORT
We fixed a bug in the VTube-STEP DOCS data file import that would cause some files to not import any data.

1 - REORGANIZED DIAMETER CUT PLANE MENU and TERMINOLOGY
The Diameter Cut Plane menu and terminology was previously confusing to users. So, we completely reorganized the menu with new terminology so that it was more obvious what the DCP feature does. See the new menu:

Changes

1 - We now use much better terminology - "Laser Length" replaces the older "Cloud Radius" text.  Laser length is exactly the thing that the DCP feature changes - so we just call it that to make it clear.

Also, we now say "Automatic Laser Length from OD" rather than "Automatic Cloud Radius..."

2 - The Length is now the actual TOTAL length of the LASER - In previous versions, operators had to double the "Cloud Radius" to get the actual laser length used in scanning. This was never obvious and not helpful to new users.  So now the "length" is the TOTAL length of the laser line.  For example, the 1.875 length in line two on the screen image is the actual length of the LASER line used in scanning.

3 - We reordered the menu - 
It is more logical now. Without  the automatic laser length on, the only lines needed are now lines 1 and 2.  So we made them the first two lines.

4 - We disable the Laser Length edit box when the Automatic mode is on - As you can see in the image on the right, when Automatic mode is on, then the Laser Length value box turns grey.  This gives the operator the clue that it cannot be edited because it is set automatically.

1 - New Bend Setup MAP POP-UP Menu
​The new pop-up menu for the adjustment MAP columns in Bend Setup allow you to automatically ignore all the negative or positive adjustments with a single click. This is useful for when you have tube shapes that cannot change in length before bending.

2 - COMCO Corrections Fixed

We discovered that the correction values were not being applied properly in the COMCO CSV protocol. The corrections were more than doubled every correction. This has been fixed in this version.
​
3 - HERBER Corrections Fixed

A customer discovered that the bend angle corrections were also being applied to the DBB length corrections i nthe Herber corrections protocol. This has been fixed.
​
4 - New Combined Length ADJUST effect value in Bender setup
This is a powerful new feature that shows the total change you can expect to be applied if the cut length remains the same during a bender correction. It's very helpful for when your process does not allow you to change the cut length.  (For example, if you have a batch of material cut with end forms.  No more changes are allowed to the cut length.)

As shown in this correction example, without any changes to the adjustment data you can expect the material to be 0.061 inches longer on one of the ends.  (Most benders will put this change on the B end of the part.)

See the next screen image.  However, if you map the adjustment to "ignore" on the second straight (-0.057 inches), then the effect is to remove almost any change in the total cut length of the tube.

Version 2.9.21 build 41 - September 28, 2019
New in build 41 - PRECISE Radius FLATTENING QUALIFICATION from SCANNING
​This new measure process allows you to qualify the radius flattening in the middle of the bend angle. The values are calculated from a BEND PROFILE measure.  The sample grid shown below is from a bend profile scan of bends 2 through 5 on VTube-LASER Demo Tube 5.

HIGH ACCURACY
Like the Bend Profile feature below, VTube-LASER depends on a large point cloud of laser data to ensure that the flatness value at the center of the bend is very precise.

  • The flattening is calculated with this formula: Nominal OD - Measured OD at the middle of the bend.

  • The Master OD and Flattening tolerance values can be manually set for each bend.
    ​

  • When a bend is not measured, then the OD me (measured) value will show 0.00 and will be greyed to show that the flattening value is not calculated.

Version 2.9.21 build 38 - September 11, 2019
1 - New - CORNER PROFILE MEASUREMENT PROCESS
​This new measure process allows you to quickly measure extruded parts like the one shown in the image on the right. This measure process also makes measuring square and rectangular parts much easier.  Scan down one side of the part using Corner Profile process, then use MTA (Measured Tube Averaging) to measure the other side of the square part, then average the two measurements together for a complete centerline.

2 - New – PRECISE Radius Qualification with Tolerances
We’ve added a very precise radius qualification grid to the Inspection data menu. When you measure a radius with BEND PROFILE, the information is reported in the grid with color-coded pass/fail information.  The grid shows both the MASTER and MEASURED radii, the deviation (color coded), the tolerance for deviation, and the out-of-tolerance values (also color coded).  The tolerances can be independently controlled just like tangent deviation tolerances.

A NOTE ABOUT HIGH REPEATABILITY

We've been told by users that other metrology packages can report up to 5 millimeters of variation in this measurement. Because VTube-LASER takes in a huge amount of point cloud data, we have found that the accuracy is often better than 0.5 mm.  The more laser data you take, the better the accuracy.

In this sample data, you can see that VTube-LASER Demo 5 was designed with a 1.5 inch radius - but actually has a 2 inch radius.

3 - New –Radius Qualification Report
​There is a new report template that allows you to see the radius qualification information in a report that you design. A new sample Radius Qualification report template is included in this version.

​4 - New – Powerful UAC (User Access Control) Enables Passwords for Restricted and Controlled Access to Editing Values
VTube-LASER can now control menu access based on UAC levels of Operator and Technician. (This new feature is OFF by default, but can be switched on at any time.)

5 - ​New –Simplified OPERATOR SCREEN for User Access Control
The new Operator Screen displays on top of VTube-LASER and carefully controls what operators can and cannot do. It works with the new UAC access system (see UAC in the previous feature).

6 - ​New –Bend Profile LASER Scan Accept Type
This new setting allows users to use the timer to accept scans in straights while requiring the accept button for bend profile scans. This makes scanning bend profiles much easier.
7 - ​New – Much Improved Cloud-Based License Activation
​The new license activation system is simpler than the previous two-step system. It allows for registration in one step with preset credentials through the internet 24/7.

8 - New - Intel Core i9 Compatibility
​We made changes to VTube to allow it to run better on computers that are using the new i9 chipset. Previous versions, for example, might hang while loading. This version does not.

9 - ​New – CPU Usage Optimization
VTube now requires much less CPU usage than previous versions.
10 - ​New – MTA Automation to Ensure that MTA is Used
This new MTA (Measured Tube Averaging) method allows setup technicians to control when MTA measurements are expected by all operators – then guides them through that process without any further setup.
11 - ​New – NUMALLIANCE MES+CSV Protocol
VTube-LASER can now correct NUMALLIANCE controls from VTube-LASER Bender Setup using the new MES file format. This protocol also allows Bender Setup to send CSV file data to the NUMALLIANCE controls to start new parts.

12 - ​New – New CORRECTIONS MAP FILTER “-1 x Val”
The NUMALLIANCE correction protocol sometimes requires that the rotation adjustments be multiplied by -1 on dual headed benders. This filter allows VTube-LASER operators to multiply any L, R, or A adjustment by -1 before sending the corrections to the bender.

13 - ​New – SOCO SV-M Protocol
VTube-LASER can now correct SOCO Beckhoff controls from VTube-LASER Bender Setup using the $$$ Supravision file format. This protocol is a unidirectional protocol (it only sends data).

14 - ​New – “Persistent” is changed to “Global”
​This change in terminology makes it easier to understand what we think of as persistent data. If data it is persistent in VTube, then it is data that is shared across all projects. Therefore, it is now “global.”
15 - ​New – Global Save Banner
​This new banner allows you to see when VTube is saving the global data settings.
16 - ​ New – Bender Setup Terminology
For example, the “Bidirectional Communications” section in Bender Setup is now renamed “Correct the Bender” in order to make its purpose clearer to users.
17 - ​New – Bender Setup RECALL Button Disable
The RECALL button is now disabled for protocols that cannot perform a RECALL in Bender Corrections.
18 - ​Fix – EXTRA End DofBend Value Cleared from Grid
VTube will now no longer place a stray DofBend value in the last XYZ row when decreasing the point count.
19 - ​Fix – NEWPORT News Shipyard Data Changes
We fine-tuned the output for NNSY data based on feedback.
