HEXAGON RDS Clean Re-install

We discovered that the scanners could intermittently stop communicating with RDS in both of our test HEXAGON scan arms. This problem was occurring in both versions 5 and 6.

HEXAGON tech support shared a simple solution that seems to work well (see the instructions in the next section).

Follow the instructions in this PDF document to perform a clean re-install of RDS.

This means completely removing RDS, deleting certain folders, and then even deleting specific Windows registry settings related to ROMER. When that is complete, the install the new RDS driver.

Caution! Deleting items in the registry is an action that could stop Windows if used improperly. Please follow the document with care.

HEXAGON RDS 6.4

HEXAGON RDS 6.3.0

• The quality filters for the AS1 have been improved
• Better quality on scanning boundaries, resulting in more accurate feature calculation
• With previous versions of RDS, in rare cases the scan data was missing scan lines; scanning performance has been improved to avoid such gaps 
• A bug that prevented users from scanning with an IP54 scanner AS1.1 on an Absolute Arm retrofitted with a wrist v2 has been fixed
• Minor improvements in the RDS user interface

This driver is an updated version for the HEXAGON 8-series arms running with RS6 blue laser scanners released in July, 2019.  It works with the RA8 with RS5 scanners and the ROMER 7-series arms also. Firmware updates for the RA8 to work with the new RS6 scanner are also required for arms that were sold before the RS6 was released.
